Using Manga 5 again.Wanted to do something with the Android icon because I’ve kinda been obsessed with hacking into my smart phone lately.Love how Google lets developers just dig in there and change whatever they can.Freedom leads to some exciting creativity.
This is a quickie using the newest release of Manga Studio.If you’re familiar with Photoshop this will be a quick pick-up for you.one cool feature is how simple they made it for you to create word balloons.I’m really digging this version.
Very excited to have my name on this.The origin of this bad boy makes me all giggety giggety.I used to work with a fella by the name of Joe Costa doing very mundane work a few years back and we would pass the time LOAO (laughing our asses off.ok?)We have an identical sense of humor and when one of us was out sick the other one would be miserable.One day he drew this funny creature to make a joke about something and I kept it.Time passed and I did my annual desk clean up.I found it and asked him about where he got the idea for it.he proceeded to tell me about these creatures he created when he was a kid.He drew all sorts of adventures for them.even superhero puffs.I had been reading a lot about print on demand and self publishing and this really intrigued me.
As we worked our boring little jobs we kept coming up with ideas for a Puffs book.So many ideas that it became a series.I thought of drawing the book but when I draw very cute things eventually they develop biceps and swords.Luckily Joes niece,Rachel,is a brilliant illustrator who can draw anything and make it look spectacular.Then one connection led to another connection and eventually Joe was able to have an agent agree to represent the book.We got many rejections before Kieth publishing agreed to jump on the Puffs.It’s available as an E-book now but it’s finally being published in good old fashioned print.Joe and Rachel did all the hard work and I’m proud of them.I’m grateful to have given some input to this project and it is an amazing feeling to see something go from an idea to an actual product.Please check this puppy out.It’s a perfect gift for the younglings and you will be supporting the little guy. http://amzn.com/B008VYSHHA
I know, I know.I’m late to mobile blogging.But I usually like to sit at my PC and do this.From a smart phone seems too limited.The tiny qwerty that I have to type with one finger doesn’t help but I figured i’d try it.It’s Aight.Hey, that children’s book ‘welcome to puffville’ will be available soon and I have a couple other projects in the works.Can’t wait to post about them…from my PC!
